To attend this course the student has to first qualify in the Jewellery Designing Basic Course. Here the student is put through the basic processes of jewellery manufacturing e.g. sawing, filing, smithing, alloying, drilling and soldering etc. Also the student is introduced to basic stone- setting procedures like bezel setting, prong setting. Students are required to design a piece of jewellery then manufacture that piece using various techniques taught as part of the project assigned.
Here the student is put through advanced techniques of jewellery manufacturing e.g. enameling, wax carving, casting procedures both basic and modern to understand the concept of mass manufacture. Also different types of movements and locks are introduced as part of technical skill development. A theme based project is also given to fully bring to fore and exploit the skills learnt by the student thus far.
Both the above mentioned courses comprise the Diploma. By the end of one year the student is capable of handling all the complexities associated with jewellery manufacturing.
